 2016 Preview 


       Last year Choctaw County finished sixth in Class 2A region 1 with a 2-5 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs.

       The Tigers would prefer to forget the past two seasons as they have finished with a 4-16 record. Since 2010, Choctaw County has gone a combined 15-45. Their 25.0% winning percentage ranks 54th in Class 2A over the past six seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Choctaw County has managed to compile a record of 93-162. Their 36.0% winning percentage ranks 44th in Class 2A and 315th in the AHSAA.

       The Tigers are led by head coach Charles Chaney who is entering his second season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 4-16 over the past two seasons at Choctaw County. The Tigers have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Chaney.

       Coach Chaney's overall record as a head football coach in three seasons stands at 6-24 (20.0%).

      

      The Choctaw County Tigers will play in Class 2A region 1 during the 2016 season.

       It will be an uphill battle for the Tigers if they hope to grab one of the four playoff slots in Region 1 this season.

       The Tigers open the 2016 season on the road against non-region opponent Marengo on Friday, August 26 at Panther Stadium. Last year the Marengo Panthers finished with an overall record of 7-5 and in third place in Class 1A region 1. The Panthers lost in the second round of the Class 1A playoffs to Maplesville by a score of 50-6.

       Choctaw County and Marengo have met a total of 7 times on the football field. The Tigers have a 2-5-0 record against the Panthers. They last met in 2020 with Marengo winning by a score of 1-0.
